TPCI Leadership
Valerie will never be content with mediocrity.
Like her father, she looks deeper and expects more,
from herself and those around her.

Valerie Phillips, President and CEO
Employee satisfaction and a value-centered work environment top the list of must-haves for TPCI under the leadership of Valerie Phillips, President and CEO. Since Phillips purchased PDI from her father, Sam Phillips, in January, 2006, she has accomplished much. In addition to changing the name to The Phillips Company, Inc. (TPCI) she has reorganized the work structure to emphasize functional excellence, standardized employee benefits, made improvements to the facilities and equipment, and acquired a complimentary manufacturing company.
Phillips believes that product quality and timeliness are “understood” goals of a company. In addition, she emphasizes employee-related goals. She explains, “Updating the work environment is the first step toward employee satisfaction.”
Before coming to TPCI, Phillips held leadership positions in finance, manufacturing, purchasing, and diversity procurement during her 25-year career at Cummins Inc., a manufacturer of engines and related technologies. As plant manager for Cummins’ United Kingdom affiliate, Nelson Burgess, Ltd., Phillips improved plant profits, compensation packages, and employee training.
Phillips earned her undergraduate degree from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. and holds an MBA from the University of Chicago.
